Japan Top 10 List

Image
It is incredibly difficult to make a top 10 list in the heat of the moment. Almost every day on the trip I found something I loved, so by the end of my trip, there'd be many items from the early part of the journey that'd be missing from the list. Now that I've given myself a few weeks to decompress and look back on the trip as a whole, I've come up with a top 10: 10. Sapporo Is it fair to write down an entire city? This is my list, so I say yes! Sapporo was tied for the shortest stay with Nagoya, both of which lasting only 19 hours, so the way I see it, you can do what I did in Sapporo in a single day trip. The three main tourist attractions in the city are all grouped very close together, Odori Park was a beautiful snow covered stretch, plenty of shopping and food to go around as well. Sapporo is at the top of my list for cities I want to see again, mostly based on that I wasn't able to spend much time there. Sapporo TV Tower, Clocktower, and Government O...

Japan Day 14: Toba and Nara

Image
January 14. Instagram Today is my last day with Boo and the family, but we're ending it on a high note as finally, we get to enjoy Naked Joe Brunch. Boo and I have discussed the idea if we had a podcast, we'd call it Naked Joe Brunch and we'd talk about anything and everything, as long as tattooing was happening at the same time. Sure tattooing wasn't happening, but waking up in a hot spring is rad. Naked Joe Brunch, Toba Me and my Boo, Toba. The Boo Crew, Toba. Toba is a small seaside town that's full of seafood options, and pearls. But before we can really explore the area, we're going to take a cruise around the harbor. It turns out it's pretty much the same price to go on a cruise of the harbor through a tour company, as it is to book a private vessel, so we headed out on our own private vessel to see Toba Bay. The captain of the boat gave us a bag of chips to feed to the birds and we had a blast! Little tree on little islan...

Japan Day 13: Ise and Toba

Image
January 13. Instagram Wake up in Nara, and hop on a train early in the morning to Ise. Now that's my kind of Japan traveling! We wake up fairly early in the morning to catch our first of two trains we'll be riding, but we arrived at our connecting station a little earlier than expected, and Boo mentioned a Mr Donut by the entrance of the station and his love for them, and I told him my dislike for the flavor. He asked me something along the line of, "Did you get one of those crappy specialty things?" and assured me the regular donuts are great. I ran down to grab a half dozen for us, and a cup of coffee for Boo, and totally forgot to grab a picture of them. We did have some Poifull Jellybeans on the ride, and one out of three Poifull packs have a jellybean that looks like a heart! Boo with the baby on the train. Somewhere outside Ise. Poifull Jellybeans, somewhere outside Ise. On arrival to Ise, we first walked down Oharaimachi Street, a market street...
